Group presents checks to nonprofits

Candle Lighters, a non-profit organization of over 100 women from the Tri-City area, is celebrating its 40th year of community service. In that time, its annual Ghost House has raised over $1.5 million for the Tri-Cities. Funds have been awarded to local nonprofits, schools and city services departments.
The group recently presented checks to beneficiaries from the October 2008 Ghost House. They included: * Tri-City Homeless Coalition: $10,440 to purchase 20 bunk beds * Star Struck Productions: $4,800 for a black adagio dance floor for rehearsal studio * Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum: $1,750 to purchase flatbed scanners * Fremont Chamber of Commerce: $3.899 for electronic presentation equipment * City of Fremont Senior Center: $6,132 to purchase lobby furniture * Fremont Family Resource Center: $2,966 for bicycle lockers * Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments: $8,452 for 32 mattresses, furnishings for children's counseling room * Kidango: $8,227 for children's furniture for dramatic play areas
After presenting these checks, Candle Lighters installed the following as officers for the coming year:
