Kids eligible for low-cost health coverage

Submitted By Rick LaPlante

New Haven families who may have lost health-care coverage as a result of the worsening economic situation should know that children's coverage is available for little or no cost through the state's Healthy Families Program and MediCal. Information is available by calling (800) 880-5305.

In addition, the 100% Campaign is a collaborative effort of Children Now, the Children's Defense Fund and the Children's Partnership to ensure all California children obtain health-care coverage. More information is available at www.100percentcampaign.org or (510) 763-2444, ext. 122.

Teachers for Healthy Kids brings together health insurance plans and teachers who are dedicated to improving the health of students. More information is available at (916) 554-0996 or www.teachersforhealthykids.com or through the California Teachers Association Community Outreach Office at (213) 251-8088.
