The Fancy Dancers of Milpitas recently performed at the Mustangs Roller Hockey game at Silver Creek Sportsplex on February 8. The Fancy Dancer's, a community based pre-professional dance team, were invited by the Mustangs to perform at their games this season. The team is composed of dancers from 12 -18 years of age. The young performers have a strong dance background in tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop and musical comedy.

The Fancy Dancers are housed at Jensen's School for the Performing Arts in Milpitas. The school, as well as Fancy Dancers, are directed by Patty Jensen. Jensen's School for the Performing Arts, better known as JPA, is a Milpitas institution having served the community for 30 years. Along with such guest performances the Fancy Dancers are busy rehearsing for their upcoming annual production to be held in April. "This year the dance company is celebrating 25 years of dance and have had over 200 members of this elite team since it's creation in 1984," said Patty Jensen, artistic director. "Many alumni have gone on to have wonderful professional dance careers."

The Fancy Dancers have entertained people in Florida, Las Vegas, Australia, Spain, France, England and Bermuda. They have performed on stages for numerous cruise lines, amusement parks and sporting events. The dance company has performed in Alaska and Europe, with a visit to Italy and France. They were among the first American community dance companies to perform at Disneyland Paris. Having competed for numerous local and national competitions, they have won awards as County Grand Champions and State Grand Champions. Fancy Dancers are available for performances for community events.

If you have experience in dance for a minimum of four years, and are between the ages of 10 and 22, contact the company if you are interested in joining the Fancy Dancers.
