Surviving during a poor economy is a challenge for any artist. Karen Honaker, Fremont Art Association's (FAA) guest artist will share her ideas about alternative marketing and her licensing experiences. Prior to the meeting, Honaker will visit the West Coast Art and Frame Convention and be able to relate the latest color and market trends.

Karen Honaker, born in 1955 in Columbus, Nebraska has been an artist ever since she could hold a paint brush. At the age of 6, she began formal oil painting instruction and by the time she was 21, Honaker earned a fine art bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska. Being married to a Navy pilot, the subsequent twenty five years of travel and living abroad influenced her painting style and choice of medium.

Ever since moving to California in 1983, Honaker turned away from oils and focused exclusively on transparent watercolors. Her work appears in Watercolor Magic, October 2006, Watercolor, Spring 2005, an American Artist magazine, Best of Flower Painting 2 and Splash 3 - Ideas and Inspirations, both North Light books. Honaker is a signature member of the California Watercolor Society, represented by galleries from California to Maine, and her work is included in both public and private collections.
