Preschool & Kindergarten Faire
By Meenu Gupta
Parents, mark your calendars, an opportunity to know all that you want to know to choose the preschool for your toddler is knocking on your door. Visit the faire this Saturday to get all the information in one place. "This is the FUN Mother's club's fifth year organizing the preschool faire. In the past, we've had several hundred families join us. We are eagerly looking forward to 300+ families this year," said Tabitha Chaudhury, Preschool & Kindergarten Faire Coordinator. "We have approximately 40 different preschools and kindergartens in attendance along with a few facilities that cater to young children such as local swim schools and gymnasiums."
So come and check out preschool and kindergarten options. Bring your questions and talk with teachers and directors from local schools to help make the best choice for your child's educational needs. "We encourage our participants to bring their facility information to share with families. Our goal is to have as many schools and programs represented as possible, making it easy for families to interview, compare and make informed decisions," said Chaudhury.
The preschool faire will be held at Christian Community School's multi-use room. Admission is free to everyone. "I think this is a great contribution to the community," said Ms. Yinyin, Director, Nature's Gift Preschool. In the tri-cities, there are more than 100 preschools to choose from, as well as public, private, and catholic Kidergarten-elementary schools. Creative life preschool, Fremont parents' nursery school, Holy spirit preschool, Nature's gift preschool, Watch me grow preschool, Sunol Glen Preschool, Play 2 learn preschool, St. Edwards School, you name it, you will find it in the faire.
"We try to have a guest speaker who talks to families about the importance of early childhood education, how to select a quality program that fits their family's needs and their child's personality, and tells the difference between the various programs available to families today," said Chaudhury. "Our guest speaker this year is Sylvia Ford. She is a dynamic speaker who comes highly recommended and her talk is eagerly anticipated," she informed.
Sylvia Ford will be presenting the topic, "Choosing a Preschool for Your Child" at 10 a.m. followed by a brief Q&A session at the end. Though Sylvia started her career helping young children and families in 1980 as a preschool teacher, she is currently offering consultation services to families and preschool staffs and teaching community college courses in early childhood education. The event is organized by the FUN (Fremont, Union City, & Newark) Mothers' Club as a community outreach project to benefit the families in the community.
