Washington Hospital's Winter/Spring 2009 Catalog Now Available

Health and Wellness Catalog Lists a Variety of Free Classes and Screenings

Washington Hospital's latest biannual Health & Wellness Catalog is now available. The free catalog is a great tool for navigating the large amount of useful classes and programs offered by your local community hospital. The Health & Wellness catalog also includes a six month calendar that can be detached and used for easy reference.

The Health & Wellness Catalog contains a complete list of upcoming classes from January through June 2009. The catalog also serves as a helpful resource for taking full advantage of your community hospital's other community services and top-notch medical programs.

Inside the new catalog you will find:
* A list of free community classes and seminars
* A complete list of Women's Health classes and programs offered through the Washington Women's Center
* Community services, such as the Washington Community Health Resource Library and Washington on Wheels (W.O.W) Mobile Health Clinic
* Health & Wellness education classes focusing on diabetes self management, stroke prevention and rehabilitation and cardiac rehabilitation
* Maternal health classes, including breastfeeding support services, parent preparation, prenatal classes and an Infant/Child CPR course for family and friends
* Detailed information about the Third Annual Women's Health Conference that will take place at Washington Hospital on January 24, 2009
* Free community health screenings, including blood pressure screening, osteoporosis screening, and a free stroke risk factor screening that will take place on March 28, 2009
* Support groups for those living with different conditions and illnesses, such as cancer, Parkinson's disease and suffering the loss of a loved one
* Directory of services, complete with program descriptions and phone numbers
* Map and Directions to Washington Hospital, Washington Urgent Care and Washington West, which houses our Gamma Knife Center, Washington Women's Center and Outpatient Imaging Center

The free Health & Wellness classes and screenings are conducted by the physicians and caregivers of Washington Hospital. These classes are now being held in two different locations - at the Conference Center adjacent to Nakamura Clinic, Union City, located at 33077 Alvarado-Niles Road and Conrad E. Anderson, M.D. Auditorium, Washington West, 2500 Mowry Ave., located across the street from the main hospital.

Featured in the current catalog is a spotlight article highlighting genetic counseling and testing for heredity breast and ovarian cancer. Washington Clinic/Fremont has recently changed its name to Washington Urgent Care. Inside the catalog you'll find a highlighted section discussing the wide range of health care services available at Washington Urgent Care.

The winter/spring portion of the year offers a variety of classes - from learning more about brain health to the latest treatments for sleeping problems. Starting in February, the Hospital will conduct a special three part seminar series dedicated to heart health. (See the info box below for the dates and times for upcoming seminars.)
