December 3, 2008 > Getting ready for July Getting ready for July Submitted By Jan Giovannini-Hill In 1999, the City of Fremont began hosting an annual 4th of July Parade in each of the original five historic township areas that came together in 1956 to form the 'City of Fremont.' In 2003, budget cutbacks forced the City to step aside in the funding and organization of these annual parades; but the citizens and greater Fremont area volunteers came together to keep the tradition going, and 2009 promises to be extra special. Join the Warm Springs District for a special (free) family friendly community event down Warm Springs Boulevard on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at 10 a.m. The Parade will feature marching bands, floats, equestrian units, and unique hometown entries; as well as, some surprise and out-of-town entries. The parade relies on donations from individuals, businesses and community groups to put on this volunteer run major event each year that attracts tens of thousands of spectators along tree lined streets. Fremont Fourth of July parades are completely 'community' funded and sponsored. Sponsorships and contributions are carried over from one year to the next (or one District to the next).
