New superintendent starts December 1

Kari McVeigh's first day as Superintendent will be Monday, December 1, and she will begin visiting school sites Tuesday, December 2. Her plan is to visit all district sites for informal "meet and greet" sessions before winter recess.

The New Haven community will formally welcome Ms. McVeigh with a reception at 4 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, at the Educational Services Center, 34200 Alvarado-Niles Blvd., Union City. A reception for newly elected Board of Education member Michelle Matthews and re-elected trustees Kevin Harper and Jonas Dino will follow at 6:30 p.m., before they are sworn in as part of the Board's annual organization meeting at 7:30.

In January, Ms. McVeigh will host a meeting of the New Haven Community Forum and begin visiting School Site Council meetings, to introduce herself to the community, answer questions and receive feedback. The New Haven Community Forum will be from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 13 at the Educational Services Center. Her schedule of School Site Council visits will be announced when it is finalized.
