Union City seniors enjoy the spirit of Halloween

By Simon Wong

Union City's Ruggieri Center was suitably decked with festive ghouls, goblins, ghosts, skeletons and pumpkins for a Halloween Luncheon on October 31. Approximately one hundred senior citizens and their families attended and entered into the spirit of the occasion.

The Costume Competition featured eleven entrants dressed as Old Mother Hubbard, Spider Woman and Gypsy Rose. First, Second and Third Prizes for "Best Costumes" were awarded to Ruth Orozco, Polly Olson and Betty Neves. The remaining competitors received Halloween-themed consolation prizes and everyone present received candies.

For details of the activities and events at the The Ralph and Mary Ruggieri Senior Center operated by Union City's Leisure Services Department, visit or telephone (510) 675 5495.
