Veteran's Day Ceremony
By Dustin Findley
Veteran's Day may be less festive than the other holidays this season, but there will be a ceremony, a good chance to pay respects and honor service men and women. Dale Flunoy, program coordinator for the City, described the scheduled features of the celebration.
The City Manager, Tom Williams, will welcome everyone in attendance. The presentation of the colors, the raising of the flag, and national anthem will take place. Mayor Esteves will make his remarks, and introduce the other dignitaries. Milpitas Community Band will be playing music throughout the event. Jeff Yaeger says they will be playing a variety of marches and patriotic music, plus a salute to the armed forces.
The guest speaker will be Denny Weisgerber, former mayor and current contributing citizen of Milpitas. Amazing Grace will be performed. Mayor Esteves will make his closing remarks. The band will play "Stars and Stripes Forever. " Refreshments will be served. Between 35 and 100 people usually attend the Veteran's Day ceremony. The ceremony will happen during the rain, if necessary.
