Milpitas Library open until November 17

Submitted By Linda Arbaugh

The Milpitas Library will close on Monday, November 17 to move to its new location at 160 N. Main Street, Milpitas. The library will continue to operate in its current location at 40 N. Milpitas Blvd. through Sunday, November 16. Items that are checked out now are due in early January. Materials that have been placed on hold may be picked up in the Community Room of the old Milpitas Library during the weeks that the library is closed.

It was previously reported that the library would close on Monday, November 3. The November 17 closing date will allow for a smoother process with less disruption to the public. Patrons are encouraged to check the library's website for details about the exact opening date of the new library. The link is at www.santaclaracountylib.org/milpitas. The grand opening for the new building will be Saturday, January 10, 2009 with events held throughout the day.

The beautiful new Milpitas Library, at 60,000 square feet, is more than three times the size of the present library. It envelops the historic Milpitas Grammar School, a building which is on the National Register of Historic Places. For more information, call (408) 262-1171.
