Eagle Scout project completed
Submitted By Nelson Kirk
Alex Kwok of Boys Scouts of America Troop 103 recently completed his Eagle Scout project at Arroyo Park in Union City. With the help of his troop and community members, a previously unusable section of Arroyo Park was cleared, a bench was built, many yards of wood chip mulch was leveled and 12 native trees planted close to the old Alameda Creek. Alex as a young child enjoyed playing at Arroyo Park and wanted to give back to the community by helping to improve the Park.
This project was very important for the diversity of Arroyo Park's native tree inventory which now has 18 different varieties. Alex's project helped compliment two earlier Eagle Scout projects by Michael Gutierrez Troop 273 and Ryan Natividad from Troop 110. All three were intended to improve the wildlife ecology of the old Alameda Creek section that travels through three of our Parks. As an Eagle Scout requirement, each project was planned, scheduled, monitored with great emphasis on leadership.
