Music for Minors II workshop
Submitted By Carol Zilli
Music for Minors II (MFMII), the nonprofit keeping music in the schools and children's lives, is sponsoring a music workshop with Charlotte Diamond for the community on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 7 p.m., at Niles School in Fremont.
Diamond is an internationally-renowned and award-winning children's recording artist who will share her songs and empower parents and teachers with lively lesson plan tips and creative activities to reinforce the school curriculum. Handouts will be provided and merchandise will be available for purchase so that Diamond music can be shared with children the very next day.
For more information contact MFMII at (510) 733-1189 and reserve your seat at this fun-filled, educational event. Because this is a teaching workshop, we request the attendance of adults only. Visit www.musicforminors2.org for more information.
Parents, college students, seniors, retired teachers, professional musicians and others will be graduating to the tune of Pomp and Circumstance at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, in Building 18 at Ohlone College. The official music docents will be completing 11 weeks of training through Music for Minors II to prepare them to share singing, rhythmic movement and dance, instrumentation and listening appreciation of the classics in pre-school and elementary school classrooms for 30 minutes a week for the remainder of the school year.
In addition, these enthusiastic volunteers will also be providing performance opportunities for the children through an exciting MFMII spring showcase on March 20 at Harbor Light in Fremont. Hats off to these volunteers who recognize the need for music in children's lives!
