This mayor and city council gave themselves more power than the governor of California when they placed a tax on your phone bill. They took over 11 million dollars of your money. A suit was filed against the city for this illegal tax. The city lost; with legal fees and settlement fees tax payers may have to pay up to two million dollars more. This is a total of 13 million out-of-pocket money for Union City taxpayers. We are the big losers. The mayor and city council are the big winners. They gave themselves a 64 percent pay raise and we got cheated out of the right to vote on this tax. The mayor and one city councilmember terms are up and their names will be on the ballot. The constitution of the United States says all political power belongs to the people. So on November 4, 2008, stand with me and write "No" next to their names on the ballot to show you don't want them to return to office. The registrar of voters says we can do this.
