OTC blasts Quicksilver
Submitted By Coach Paul Dunn Photos By Ed Ohye
OTC entered the Thursday, Oct. 2, game against Quicksilver missing a couple of key players; however it didn't appear to matter as OTC quickly went on the attack.
Ten minutes into the game, Karina Paonessa collected the ball in midfield and moved forward, slicing open the defense, before making a nice pass to Megan Dunn running down the right wing. Dunn quickly passed inside to Stephanie Schembri who took a couple of steps to control the ball then powered it past the keeper.
On OTC's next attack, Erica Ohye took the ball down the left wing, holding off a couple of defenders, before passing the ball across the edge of the six-yard box to Megan Dunn. Dunn calmly one-timed the ball past the stranded keeper.
With 10 minutes remaining in the half, the Quicksilver defense had difficulty clearing an OTC corner kick and the ball eventually just bobbled out to Tiffany Sarchet who pounced on it and shot through a crowd of players into the goal to make it 3 - 0.
In the second half Kinsey Mead went in goal as coach Ed Ohye shuffled the OTC line up.
With only minutes gone, Schembri and Dunn gained control of the ball on the right edge of Quicksilver's penalty area before Dunn passed to an unmarked Ohye, who quickly slotted the ball into the goal to make it 4 -0.
OTC could have had several more if it wasn't for Quicksilver's dogged defense and good goalkeeping. Sara Talooi, Paonessa, and Ohye all had chances to extend the lead; and Rhian Dunn hit the post with a left-footed shot on a good single-handed effort. OTC was triumphant in the end, defeating Quicksilver 4-0. |
