Milpitas Community Television (MCTV) Teen News

By Jackelyn Ho

Teens, do you ever feel like you don't have a voice? Like you're seen, but not heard? Well, welcome to Milpitas Community Television (MCTV) Teen News: a new and local TV show specialized just for you.

Teen News addresses this issue by presenting informative and current news reports to which teens can relate. Teen opinions need to be heard, discussed and debated by other teens. This evolves into an environment of voices that have been quiet until now. In a time when our economy is experiencing change, teens and their ideas will be valuable to our future.

This show focuses on showcasing teen talent through its various segments and informing the community on current events. From political updates to health reports, Teen News covers it all. This thirty-minute broadcast allows teens to be involved in every aspect of the show - from beginning to end.

So how do you get in on all the action? Teen News offers countless opportunities to be involved in our show. You can apply to be a member of The Crew, submit story ideas, submit self-made music videos, be a featured story, or be a part of our community update. Teen News is created by teens for teens, and we just want to show the world what's really under all of those stereotypical labels.

James Logan High School student Jackelyn Ho recently founded Teen News with hopes of accomplishing these goals. This 17-year old aspiring broadcast journalist realized the under representation of young adults in her community, and knew that this needed to change. As a result, she contacted her local Milpitas cable station and pitched her idea of a Teen News broadcast. After tons of preparation and organization, she's ready to show the rest of the world what her generation is made of.

Teen News' first tentative broadcast is set for early October. To tune in to this show, you can see us on Milpitas Comcast Cable Channel 26, or watch streaming live at

We are looking for more members to add to The Crew - the core group of teens who produce our show. If you or anyone you know is interested in being a part of our production, please e-mail Jackelyn Ho at
