Superintendent search update

The Superintendent Selection Advisory Council (SSAC) that will offer input to the Board of Education in the search for a new Superintendent was among several groups and individuals who met with California School Boards Association (CSBA) search adviser Barry Reed. CSBA is in the process of identifying six to eight candidates for recommendation to the Board of Education. The Board and the SSAC will interview the candidates Thursday and Friday, Oct. 16 and 17, and the Board will conduct final interviews on Saturday, Oct. 18.
Members of the SSAC are student representative to the Board Cody Harper; District parents Sarabjit Kaur Cheema, Michael Ritchie, John Shockley, Tom Sims and Rodel Villa; parents and Board of Education candidates Michele Matthews and Karen Yifru; President Charmaine Kawaguchi and fellow teachers Seth Horwitt, Pace Lash and Patsy Lockhart of the New Haven Teachers Association; President Raquel Leon and fellow employees Tanya Leno, Kimberly Quintal and Toni Texeira of the local chapter of the California School Employees Association; Alvarado Elementary Principal Tracie Noriega, Hillview Crest Elementary Principal Beth Davies and Conley-Caraballo High Principal Mireya Casarez of the New Haven Administrators Association; and former Board member Barbara Aro-Valle, Executive Director of the New Haven Schools Foundation. |
