Modern French jewelry design show opens
To paraphrase Judith Price, president of the national Jewelry Institute..."It's not just the precious stones that distinguish masterpieces by France's greatest goldsmiths but the imagination and craftsmanship that inspire them. French jewelers like Rene Lalique, Henri Vever, Lucien Gautrait and Louis Cartier laid the groundwork for a century of jewelry design that followed."
On Friday, September 26 and Saturday, September 27, Shreve & Co. will host an exclusive trunk show of works by the finest contemporary French jewelers, many never seen before in the US. Organized by the French Trade Commission to promote jewelry designed and handcrafted entirely in France, the trunk show will make two stops in the United States - New York City and Chicago - before opening in the galleries of Shreve's historic Post Street store. The trunk show features collections by Bachet Joaillier, Philippe Comoy, Jean-Marc Garel, Garnazelle, Loris Paris, Marchak, Mathon Paris, Alain Roure, Philippe Tournaire and Waskoll.
Joaillerie Contempoaine de France - New Work by the Modern Masters of French Jewelry Design will be in the Shreve & Co. galleries at 200 Post Street Friday, September 26 and Saturday, September 27. Show hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information call (415) 421-2600.
