In FC Fremont Under-14 Girl's House League action on Saturday, September 6, the Boomers scored a goal early in the second half and made it stand up in a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the Stompers in the season opener. Ciara Valdez scored the goal following several beautiful passes off a corner kick. Cindy Tafolla's centering pass started the game-winning play after which Jenna Wondka passed to Raquel Rodas who tapped it to Valdez. Just prior to the goal, Abby Harrison drilled a shot off the left upright, and then, following the near miss, Rodas and Ashley Campbell had shots stopped by the Stompers' goalie to rob them of goals. Meanwhile, Boomers goalie Lauren Youhanna's diving save midway through the second half helped preserve the shutout. Synclaire Hamilton and Kailey Richardson had big games on defense for the Boomers who had 10 shots on offense. |
