Newark pastor shines
Minorities are often depicted in improvised or criminal lights while often hiding how much we give to society or our communities. Therefore I would like to honor a member of the Chamber of Commerce with the City of Newark, Pastor H. Jones of Family Bible Fellowship in Newark.
He was able to pull the community together by inviting Newark Community Church, to participate in giving over 300 backpacks at a their annual block party held in a small neighborhood park called Ash. Washington Hospital's Washington on Wheels gave medical check-ups and Newark Fire Department honored those in attendance with their presence. Family Bible Community Church supplied clothing as well. There was live entertainment and free food for all.
The hard work of the two churches - black and white - working together, serving their community, proves defeating poverty is not found in the color of one's skin nor a zip code.
