August 20, 2008 > Help for Veterans Help for Veterans Submitted By Sue Scott, Voluntary Service Specialist Veterans and service personnel, their families and community members are invited to an "appreciation coffee" Saturday, August 23, hosted by the Veterans Administration Palo Alto Health Care System. The free event, held at the Veteran's Hall in Niles from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. is designed to inform service personnel and their families of available benefits. "We are trying to build a support network for veterans and those with family members currently serving," explained Sue Scott, a voluntary service specialist with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Networking functions such as this are also designed to allow communication within communities so people know who is deployed and serving. It is also important for those with military service to understand their benefits and resources available to them.
