Submitted By Janis Flippen

AlmaVia of Union City will host a free musical performance, "Never Too Late," starring the Stagebridge Theatre Company, on Saturday, August 9 at 2 p.m. at AlmaVia, 33883 Alvarado-Niles Road.

Directed by founder of Stagebridge, Stuart Kandell, Never Too Late is the oldest ongoing show at Stagebridge. The musical review features old-time radio show favorites, songs, skits, commercials and much more. The troupe of seniors, accompanied by Scrumbly Koldewyn on the piano, entertains with a wink and a nod to memory lane and to the good times that create memories.

Stagebridge Theatre Company in Oakland is a nationally acclaimed theatre troupe of older adults, ranging in age from 50 to 90 years. Celebrating its 29th season, the company's mission has been to narrow the gap between the generations and to present positive images of older adults through the medium of theatre arts classes, workshops, healthy aging programs and public performances. The non-profit intergenerational company has performed over 30 original plays for more than 300,000 people in clubs, senior centers, hospitals, schools and theatres.

A pioneer in the field of healthy aging, Stagebridge created the award-winning Healthy Aging Program called "See Me!" to train medical professionals to recognize older adults as people. In addition, Stagebridge is the only west coast representative of the innovative TimeSlips (trademark), a creative storytelling method that helps people with dementia. Stagebridge has been featured on ABC-TV, CNN, National Public Radio, Modern Maturity, Oakland Magazine, Storytelling Magazine and at national and regional conferences.

Space is limited and reservations can be made by calling (510) 489-3800. Refreshments will be served following the performance. For more information on AlmaVia of Union City, visit the website at www.almavia.org.
