53rd Annual Newark Days Celebration
The annual celebration of the birthday of the City of Newark will be held September 18-21. The theme this year is "It's Magic". The 4 stages in the park and community center will be bulging with a variety of magicians, illusionists, bands, singers and dancers, including the Kent Family Illusion Show, and the Magic Castle and Sunday headliner Tom Rigney & Flambeau. Other activities include a fine art and photography show, an art, craft and trade section, a car and truck show, contests, the popular Thursday kid's parade, Friday haystack, fantastic carnival rides, the big Saturday parade, children's crafts and much more.
Applications are still available for food and game booth space. No duplication of food is allowed. Food booth applications are now being accepted on a first-come-first-served basis and will be received until September 12. However, if you wish to be in Newark Days advertising, the deadline is August 15. All applications are available at the Newark Community Center, Newark Library, The Silliman Center, Newark Chamber of Commerce and Tri-Cities League of Volunteers Community Service Center, at 36120 Ruschin Dr., Newark. You may also download an application at www.newarkdays.org. All Newark Days events are open to anyone interested in participating. Last year 110,000 people attended from all over the Bay Area so don't miss this opportunity to be a part of a major event in southern Alameda County.
