Whether your preference is shiny old antiques or a classy, modern set of wheels, the Newark Summer Classic Car and Truck Show is for you. Over a hundred unique cars and their owners are expected at the Newark Pavilion on Sunday, July 20, along with live music, vendors, prizes, and much more.

This third annual car and truck show is organized and sponsored in part by the Newark Chamber of Commerce and the Classic Cruisers USA car club. The event is free for car enthusiasts of all ages starting at 9 a.m. and continuing until 3.p.m.

From unique Mini Coopers to classic hot rods, there will be no shortage of sleek rides to admire. Cars and trucks of the 1920s to the present will be on display with their proud owners who are more than willing to share information and stories behind these incredible restored and customized vehicles.

Live music and great food is always a great accompaniment to events like this and the Summer Car and Classic Car Show will be no exception. Visitors will be able to listen to The Diehards band and have their choice of eats including barbeque hot links and hot dogs, as well as prime rib sandwiches from Cattleman's. A variety of vendors will show their wares and fill "goody bags" for spectators. Raffles are part of the fun planned for the day; winners will receive one of over a dozen different prizes including car care gift baskets and gift certificates for an overnight stay and Sunday morning brunch pass for two at the Hilton Hotel. Awards will be presented to owners of featured cars at 2 p.m.

For those who own a classic car or truck and would like to be a part of the show, there are several ways to do so. Visit the Newark Chamber of Commerce website at, and download the registration form, or simply show up early at the pavilion, and fill out a form. Space is limited to the first 250 people, so make sure to register as soon as possible. Although the deadline to pre-register for $25 has already passed (July 15), it's not too late to register for the show. Registration is $30 per entry.

For more information about the car show or to register, visit the Newark Chamber of Commerce website at or call Linda Ashley at (510) 744-1000.
