Don't have enough time to groom your pet? Can't keep up with the grooming appointments? If your answer is "yes," then your hunt for a good grooming salon ends at Titan's Kingdom. Flexible drop-off and pick-up times from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. are available for pets. The grooming salon was added at the beginning of May this year to this almost three year old hydro-spa for dogs and cats.
Opening in 2005, Titan's Kingdom was born out of Eric Ng's desire for his wife and golden retriever to be involved in his work. In fact, his four year old golden retriever, Titan, is an active participant in and the namesake of the store.
"He is the first dog introduced to the new dogs (who are enrolled in the boarding center and play groups). Because of his mellow personality, he does not react to the aggressive dogs," but remains playful with all of the pets that come to Titan's.
"He even does well with our three cats," Ng joked during an interview.
Besides pet bathing and grooming, Titan's Kingdom offers high quality pet food, equipment and toys. The retail portion of Titan's kingdom sells "only higher-end holistic foods," according to Ng. Also, the staff has extensive knowledge of the various pet foods and ingredients offered in the store so they know which brands better suit pets with sensitive stomachs, skin issues, etc. The retail center at Civic Center Drive will be merging with the daycare facility at Fulton Place in Fremont by the end of August to focus on quality service.
The salon looks after one pet at a time with regular personal attention from owner Ng. For new grooming customers, one hour of complementary group play time is included in the price of grooming. Revolutionary WebGroomTM Webcam Service helps pet parents watch their companions throughout the entire grooming process, unrestricted by small windows and drop-in/pick-up hours as they are in other grooming salons. To access WebGroom camera visit: http://www.titanskingdom.com/daycare/grooming.html. Please call 510-353-1367 for pricing and reservations. Pets must have all required vaccinations.
A complementary temperament evaluation is given to first time visitors before joining the play group. Andrea Galvan loves grooming the pets providing them with "individual, hands-on" care. "The facility is free from any cages or kennels," she said. Parking is available at the front and in the office parking lot next door. First time customers receive a 50% discount. "We do everything differently compared to other facilities," said Ng when asked about the particulars of his business. "Other facilities may crate dogs the whole day and only let them out for two 10 or 15 minute walks. We let them play in groups during the entire day, which is less stressful on them, a lot more fun, and cleaner because they are not crated up."
Despite the recent economic downturn, Ng remains optimistic about Titan's Kingdom and the franchising opportunities he hopes to sell in the coming years.
"Our fundamental business is still strong. Last year we had a 30% growth in our daycare and boarding activities so I am not so concerned about the slowness in the economy."
While he does concede that at this point it will be tough to get people to buy into franchises due to the state of the economy and the stringent requirements he has imposed on his workers, he cheerfully remarked that "if we can make it in Fremont, we can make it anywhere."
So bring your pet to "Puppy Social Hour", a socializing event for pets organized by Titan's Kingdom, every Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Designed for pups between the age of 10 weeks and five months, the low cost event is designed to teach pets social skills and how to interact with other dogs and people. Pet parents should bring small tasty treats for their pet along with proof of Bordatella and second series of DHPP vaccines.
In addition, a special non-anesthetic dental hygiene service will be provided on Friday, July 25 for pets with tartar buildup. This gentle treatment allows pets to relax in their human companion's lap throughout the cleaning process.
