The Fremont Flash girls U13 Class 1 soccer team has recently won the Premier Division US Club Western Region H Championship held in Ripon this past June. Due to their accomplishments, they have been invited to compete against the very best teams in the United States this July at the US Club National Finals to be held in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Fremont Flash is the only team representing the Tri-City area in the national tournament.
At the tournament, the Fremont Flash was challenged by triple digit heat, dust, smoke and some powerful soccer teams. In game one, the Flash battled the Rocklin Sockers; at the half it was tied 1-1. The Flash shut down the Sockers and scored four more goals to give them a 5-1 victory. Game two was tough with a 3-1 loss to the Palo Alto Victory, a team they will face again in the finals. But, the Flash were not done, game three was against the Lodi Crushers. The weather was cooling and the Flash was ready to crush the Crushers with a whopping 10-2 scoring spree!
Going into the semi-finals, the Flash played the East Diablo United team, a team they play in fall league. Although East Diablo started strong, they were no match for the relentless Fremont Flash. Flash turned a 1-2 score into a 5-2 romp earning them a spot in the Championship game! The final game was a rematch with the Palo Alto Victory and the game was a very close battle with both teams 0-0 at the half. The second half was equally exiting with both sides scoring 2 goals forcing the game into overtime. Two overtime periods and both teams scoring lead the game into penalty kicks. The Flash prevailed on the penalty kicks and advanced to the US Club Nationals at Virginia Beach.
We are extremely proud of this accomplishment. The fact that Fremont Flash has been selected to play in the CYSA Gold Division in the coming season is a true testament to the team's commitment to hard work and dedication to excellence.
The girls going to the finals are: Tamara Aboumrad, Allison Cartagena, Jessica Espinosa, Taylor Garden, Hannah Joss, Anita Kavalan, Kylie Kester, Christine Laymon, Kimberley McLaughlin, Sarah McWaid, Kristin Moyer, Leslie Waing, Megan Racine, Reina Raskop, Megan Ravenscroft, Tori Salazar, Sydney Tapia.
