'America Sings' lights up Centerville
Centerville was the center of Independence Day action on the morning of July 4, 2008. Thousands lined the parade route in Fremont to view two hours of non-stop action as bands, equestrian units, trucks, cars, marching groups, twirlers and pirates, to name just a few moved along Fremont Boulevard waving, cheering and singing to the admiring crowd. Although the weather was a bit cool, the action was hot and spirits were high as the roar of Harley-Davidson motorcycles opened the festivities followed by sirens, music and song. Judges faced a monumental task as they were forced to decide which entries would receive top honors. The real winners were all entrants and those who enjoyed a spectacle that revives the knowledge that the American spirit is alive and well. Congratulations to all participants and those who worked hard to make this a memorable celebration.
