July 2, 2008 > TOPS soccer team takes first place in Six-a-Side Tournament TOPS soccer team takes first place in Six-a-Side Tournament Submitted By Nanette Cook Photos By Michelle Soares Six-a Side, Summer Slam Tournament was held on Saturday, June 28 in Walnut Creek. The games are played with five players and a goalie on a short field and are fast paced and high scoring. The TOPS team outplayed their competition with scores of 13-0 versus the Thunderbirds, 7-1 versus 96 Blue, and tied with the Walnut Creek Dynamos, 2-2, giving the TOPS Team the points they needed to move on to the championship game versus the Delta Xplosion. In the final game, the TOPS racked up an impressive score of 11-4 to secure first place. All of the TOPS players combined efforts contributed to their success that day with every TOPS player scoring at least one goal! TOPS players participating in the tournament were Carly Turner, Jarna Patel, Jessica Hernandez, Megan Coffey, Melissa Reese, Peyton Cook, Rebecca Ryan, Rhianna Soares, Vienna Curtis and Yvette Cuellar. The team is lead by Coaches Rob Hernandez and Lindsey Lewis.
