Local fitness ambassador will serve at Olympic Games
Submitted By John Cassillo
24 Hour Fitness, the largest privately-owned U.S. fitness chain and the Official Fitness Center Sponsor of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team, announced that Mahnaz Barhaghi of Fremont will be one of 21 team members from its more than 425 locations across the United States to serve as a "Fitness Ambassador" that will staff the United States Olympic Committee's (USOC) High Performance Training Center (HPTC) in Beijing for the 2008 Olympic Games. Barhaghi is a Master Trainer at the Fremont Active Club.
Fitness managers and master trainers from the 24 Hour Fitness network underwent a rigorous selection process in which they were asked to submit both an application that detailed how they have changed people's lives by helping them achieve their fitness goals, as well as inspiring member testimonials. Once the staff selections were announced, the resulting group attended an intensive three-day training session at the USOC headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO to prepare them for their two week assignment at the HPTC in Beijing, where they will support the athletes and the USOC.
