One of the most popular free events of the summer is Festival Opera's annual Opera in the Park concert at Civic Park in downtown Walnut Creek. This year's concert on Sunday, June 29, at 6 p.m. will feature guest artists and the Festival Opera Chorus with a program of opera favorites and a preview of Il Trovatore. Bring the family and pack a picnic for an unforgettable summer evening of fine music in the great outdoors.
The evening's performers will include such Bay Area favorites and musical selections as Kurt Krikorian ("Ho Capito" and "Der Vogelfaenger bin ich, ja!,"), Igor Vieira, Jessica Mariko Deardorf ("Una Voce Poco Fa" from The Barber of Seville and "Lakmˇ Duet" from Lakmˇ), Stacey Cornell Estes ("Chi'l Bel Sogno" from La Rondinˇ and "Lakmˇ Duet"), Alex Taite ("`E Lucevan Le Stelle" from Tosca), Ted Weis ("Vision Fugitive" from Heriodiade and "Warm As The Autumn Light" from Ballad of Baby Doe), and Ron Valentino at the keyboard.
