Fremont Education Foundation awards 2008 Innovative Education Grants
Friday morning, March 23 was filled with surprised smiles and student applause. Representatives of the Fremont Education Foundation (FEF) appeared on 13 campuses to award 15 grants to teachers who submitted unique and practical ideas for projects to benefit their students. In some cases, winning entries were a collaborative effort of several teachers, all of whom received recognition.
Innovative Education Grants promote and reward imaginative, quality classroom programs in grades K-12. Grants can be in amounts up to $3,000. This year's winners are:
Virginia August (Mission Valley Elementary), Square Dance to Success. Alicia Bassler (Green Elementary), Leap into Literacy with Leapster. Michelle Bellon, (Warwick Elementary), The Math Workshop. Kyle Cayce (Blacow Elementary), Multi-Media Photo Essay Brannin Dorsey (Parkmont Elementary), Keep Dramatic Play in K. Kristen East (Brookvale Elementary), Meeting the Needs of Students in Interactive Technology. Tsu-Hei Lin (Warm Springs Elementary), Picture This. Stan Irish, Scott Canady, Mike Martin (Kennedy High), Individualized Progress Monitoring to Identify Math Needs. Sharon Ram (Fremont Adult), Using SENTO Technology for Curriculum Assessment in ESL. Susanne Reed (Warwick Elementary), Using Empathy and Non-fiction books to raise achievement. Lorraine Riggio/Schwartz (Irvington High), Skills for Life-Long Success. Morreira, Sunsford, Miller (Walters Jr. High), Reading Fluency Intervention. Kim Takacs (Mission Elementary), Everyone Engaged in English. Susan Ware (Mission Elementary), Mighty Math Masters. Becky Williamson (Niles Elementary), American Reading Company Leveled Book Program. |
