Chabot College breaks new ground

A groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, May 23rd unveiled two buildings that are 100% Measure B funded and will be Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certified.
The two buildings are the Instructional Office Building and the Community and Student Services Center. The Instructional Office Building will be 36,360 square feet, $14,212,838, with an occupancy date of August 2009. The Community and Student Services Center will be 52,827 square feet, $27,518,000, with an occupancy date of January 2010.
These buildings will take shape in the Grand Court, between Buildings 500 and 800, Chabot College, 25555 Hesperian Boulevard in Hayward.
LEED Certification is part of a system that rates buildings which make a positive environmental impact. The website www.usgbc.org/LEED has more information.
