Optimist Club honors Police Officers of the Year
Submitted By Marla Blowers
The Newark Opitimist Club met to honor those selected as Police Officers of the Year: Sgt. Frank Dorsey, Fremont; Officer Bruce Vance, Union City; and Officer Dave Higbee, Newark. Frank Dorsey, Dave Higbee, Bruce Vance. The Newark Optimist Club has held this annual event since 1970. Each city has a perpetual plaque that denotes the recipients over the past years.
Officers are chosen by their peers, within their respective Police Officer Associations, to receive this coveted recognition. This event brings together leaders from Tri-City agencies in a spirit of camaraderie, fun, and fellowship.
From the glowing comments offered by City Managers, Mayors, and Police Chiefs, it was easy to see why these men were chosen as outstanding officers. To their credit, they all set high examples by taking pride in their work, being team players, mentoring younger officers, caring for the citizens they serve, and by making our cities safer places to live, work, and play. |
