May 21, 2008 > NUMMI Collaborates with Habitat for Humanity East Bay NUMMI Collaborates with Habitat for Humanity East Bay Submitted By Chris O'Neal New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc (NUMMI) partnered with Habitat for Humanity East Bay on a volunteer project to assist building of an eight-home "green" development using environmentally sustainable materials and methods. NUMMI team members, their families and friends volunteered their time and energy on Saturday, May 10 to work with Habitat personnel whose goal is to create successful homeownership opportunities for families with limited incomes and revitalize neighborhoods. NUMMI stages two major volunteer work days each year. One focuses on environmental causes (beach and watershed clean-ups), the other on community and social causes. As the only automobile manufacturing plant in California, NUMMI and its team members are committed to serving the community.
