Wellness Massage Now Offered at Washington Women's Center

Therapeutic Massage Can Help Relieve Pain and Improve Your Overall Well Being

Ladies, have you ever wanted to get a massage but haven't because you felt a little awkward about going to a day-spa or thought that massage therapy was too expensive? Well if you want to experience wellness massage in a warm and welcoming environment that promotes a sense of relaxation, Washington Women's Center has an affordable type of massage therapy just for you.
Wellness Massage for women at the Women's Center is a therapeutic service intended to promote your overall well-being and is an important part of the wellness, balance and life campaign that the Washington Women's Center continues to support.
"Massage is a very important therapeutic approach which is underutilized and underappreciated," says Kathy Hesser, R.N., Washington Women's Center Coordinator. "A lot of people think massage is good for muscle aches and pains. But what we have found is that massage activates the body's own healing system and can complement medical therapies."
Massage is one of the oldest, simplest forms of therapy and is a system of stroking, pressing and kneading different areas of the body to relieve pain, relax, stimulate, and tone the body. Massage does much more than create a pleasant sensation on the skin, it also works on the soft tissues (the muscles, tendons, and ligaments) to improve muscle tone. Massage also stimulates blood circulation and assists the lymphatic system (which runs parallel to the circulatory system), improving the elimination of waste throughout the body.

Massage can help reduce the discomfort with the following ailments:
* Stress
* Migraine Headaches
* Pregnancy Related Back Pain
* Lower Back Pain
* Sports Related Injuries
* Muscle Tightness
* Fibromyalgia
I'd like to get a massage but I'm too self-conscious
Some people do feel a little awkward the first time they get a massage but we've found that those feelings fade very quickly when you're in the hands of a real professional. Wellness Massage at the Women's Center is performed by licensed massage therapists that have received training at accredited institutions.
"Massage therapy is a great way to reduce muscle tension, anxiety and stress," says Vides Mlay, a Washington Hospital massage therapist. "Combining massage with exercise and stretching can really make a big difference in how you feel."
Mlay is licensed by the City of Fremont as a Certified Massage Technician. She has been a massage therapist for more than 10 years and she has been with Washington Hospital for more than four years.
"Compassion is what makes me care about my clients and it's important to me that the outcomes at my massage sessions have a positive impact in their daily lives long after they leave my office," adds Mlay.
The Washington Women's Center offers the following types of massage visits:
Swedish Massage - relaxes body tensions using long, fluid strokes and a number of muscle kneading techniques. It improves circulation, reduces tension, and relieves sore muscles.
Sports Massage - helps athletes improve flexibility and speeds recovery time.
Deep Tissue Massage - focuses on connective tissues and works deep into the muscle to help ease and release long held patterns of muscular tension.
Pregnancy Massage - helps alleviate back pain for expectant mothers, aids in circulation, and gives the mother rest and relief from the discomfort of pregnancy.
Foot Reflexology - is gentle, even foot massage which relaxes and reduces stress and tension.
Therapeutic Massage - integrates neuromuscular therapy, connective tissue and reflexology with Swedish strokes to help relax and restore balance to the body.
On-Site Chair Massage - is provided in our Women's Center. It includes a short, seated massage which usually covers the head, neck, shoulders, back, arms and hands.

Soothing amenities await you
Every woman receiving a massage treatment is greeted with a fresh robe, hot towels, and each woman has her own private dressing area with individual lockers for personal items. Other massage treatment amenities include: hot tea and coffee, fresh fruit, a library with internet connection and a pleasurable ambiance with soothing background music.
