Veronica Johnson is a doting mom who organizes a bowling event in loving memory of her son Dylan, who died eight years ago due to a congenial heart disease. Proceeds from the event benefit the Make A Wish Foundation in San Francisco which had granted the bight-eyed Dylan's wish to meet Mickey Mouse at Disneyland, before his third open heart surgery.
This year, Johnson will be organizing a golf tournament on Monday, June 2, at the Summitpointe Golf club in Milpitas. This golf tournament will benefit the Make A Wish Foundation, which was instrumental in granting the wish of her deceased son Dylan. When the Make A Wish Foundation sponsored a five day trip to Disneyland for Dylan and granted his wish to meet Mickey Mouse, Johnson experienced the power of a granted wish.
After Dylan's death in the year 2000, Johnson began to organize a bowling tournament for the benefit of the Make A Wish Foundation. For the last eight years, she has been actively involved in raising funds for the foundation; to date, $68,000. Johnson said she plans to expand her fundraising efforts through the golf tournament, which promises to be a fun-filled event for participants with great prizes.
Johnson has planned a raffle and silent auction at the golfing event. So far, she has been successful in enlisting the support of the San Jose SaberCats. The San Jose SaberKittens are helping by hosting a Champagne greeting on the day of the event. In addition, Outback Steak House will serve lunch and dinner to golf guests. Generous donations of gifts and prizes for the raffle as well as auction include Bay Area Rentals which have donated a private plane ride for lunch from San Jose to Half Moon Bay. This event is the only golfing fundraiser for the Bay Area Make A Wish Foundation.
Johnson is looking for sponsors who can help make this golfing event a success. For more information about how to sponsor the Dylan Johnson Golf Classic, contact Veronica Johnson at (510) 517-3017 or email her at MyMakeAWishChild@aol.com.
