Patton retools tennis camps
Submitted By Bill Patton
Union City Leisure Services Tennis Camps are running this summer. These camps have been very popular with 20-25 campers each week, with a ratio of less than six students per counselor. Last year's camps experienced a bit of a down year because of the move to a local park during construction at James Logan High School in Union City.
This year, the camps will be at the much improved facility at Logan, complete with nearby bathrooms, a room to get out of the sun, and before and after supervised, movies, video games, etc. "We have done a few things to improve our camp, our staffing is better than ever, and we are offering some nice prizes to each student, and great coaching," stated director of tennis, Bill Patton. "The location is a bit ironic considering which high school I coach, but we do want to train any and all present and future MVAL players." Summer tennis teams are available for boys 18 and girls 18 divisions, as well as a novice league for junior varsity level players and those in middle school.
