High Octane Americana Music
The Tri-cities League of Volunteers (LOV) and the Newark Arts Council will present the popular band Houston Jones in an electrifying afternoon of bluegrass, folk and gospel music. The sparks that ignite this band include the amazing voice of Louisiana-born Travis Jones, the flat-picking mastery of guitarist Glenn Houston, the bassist/songwriter Chris Kee and drummer Peter Trucker. They will be joined by fiddle and mandolin madman Chojo Jacques and keyboard ace Henry Salvia.
Formed in 2001, Houston Jones can be counted on to bring the house down. Bob Brown, manager of Huey Lewis and the News say, "As good as any singing and picking I've heard in my thirty years in the business". Individual members of the band have performed with such greats as Billy Ray Cyrus, the Dobbie Brothers, Hank Williams Jr., and Willie Nelson to name a few. Houston Jones will leave you breathless ad thoroughly rocked-so bring your personal fire extinguisher-the music will sizzle. On display at the venue will also be paintings of Hilary Mills Lambert.
Doors open at 1 p.m. and the concert begins at 2 p.m. Complimentary refreshments will be served during intermission. For more information call (510) 793-5683 or go online to www.lov.org.
