The American Association of University Women (AAUW) - Fremont Branch is hosting a fundraiser to support their Legal Advocacy Fund. This "Pedal for Equity" will provide a stipend to people who are victims of discrimination in the workplace.
The event, called the "Worldly Wanda Tour de Fremont," will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, starting at Fremont's Central Park (Southwest side of the park off Paseo Padre Parkway). Cyclists can choose either a course of 25 or a course of 50 miles for a friendly ride. Helmets are required to ride and minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
On the day of the event, registered cyclists will receive a t-shirt, maps and route directions, rest stops with refreshments, restrooms along the route, post-ride entertainment, and a goodie bag. The ride will tour Fremont's five historic districts: Niles, Centerville, Mission San Jose, Warm Springs, and Irvington.
To register for this ride, go to www.Active.com and type in the name of this event (Worldly Wanda Tour de Fremont). There is a fee to use www.Active.com and the cost of registration is $32 for adults and $22 for youth ages 12 - 17. Online registration closes at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26. Registration will also be taken on the day of the event for $37 (adults) and $27 (youth).
The money AAUW collects from this event will go into the Legal Advocacy Fund, which provides a stipend to people who are fighting discrimination in the workplace.
