The League of Women Voters of Fremont, Newark and Union City is conducting a workshop for the benefit of those who are considering running for office, or participating in a campaign as a volunteer and it is free for all. A panel of former elected officials from the Tri-City area or current members of elected boards or councils will conduct the workshop
The experts include Judy Zlatnik, former Fremont City Council Member, Dominic Dutra, former Fremont City Council Member, Richard Valle, Union City Council Member, Anu Natarajan, current Fremont City Council Member, Ana Apodaca, current Newark City Council Member, Barbara Aro-Valle, former New Haven School Board Member and GloriaRitchie, chair for many local campaigns, who is currently working for a political media firm.
This workshop is to give a basic idea regarding the preparations required to run a campaign. Three panels of experts will be talking about the impact resulting from a political candidate's decision to run for office on professional as well as personal life. They will also discuss how to organize a plan to run for a campaign. It will deal with the mechanics of organizing a campaign, the legal requirements, and the practical elements. If you have questions on how to deal with the financial requirements, how to announce candidacy, how to fulfill the legal requirements of candidacy for the state and for the jurisdiction, this workshop will be helpful.
