Students who enjoy solving math problems, born after Sept. 1, 1994, and attend seventh grade or lower were invited to tryout for an International math competition held in Hong Kong in July 2008. All expenses for five days including room, board, and local tours are covered (except airfare). It is a unique opportunity for the elementary school and junior high students to have an academic and cultural exchange with children around the world.

Team participation is by invitation only. Each year about 50 teams and 200 students from countries across the globe participate. To qualify to represent the USA-Silicon Valley teams to compete in Hong Kong, the students must take a tryout test consisting of 20 logical and reasoning math problems in 45 minutes. Based on the tryout results, the students in the top10 percent will be invited to go through an 8-12 week training period offered by MathEdge. Another test will be administered to select the final four or eight students for the final training lasting till June.
