The 15th Annual Musica delle Donne Festival, celebrating the music of women composers, will be presented the Cal State East Bay Music Department as part of the campus-wide "Women's Herstory Month" observance.

The free concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the newly renovated Music and Business Building recital hall, room 1055, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd., Hayward. Thursday's performance will feature student compositions by Nancy Cho, Jessica Rugani and Amy Lourenco performed by CSUEB faculty and students Justin Plank, baritone; Yasuko Tsunoda, piano; and the CSUEB Jazz Combos.

Friday's program by the Bay Area community choir, Chora Nova, directed of Paul Flight, will include "Gartenlieder, Op. 3," "Nachtreigen-Es rauschen die BŠume," "My Luve is Like a Red, Red Rose" and "O Mistress Mine, Where Are You Roaming?"

Irene Gregorio, Music Department lecturer and event artistic director, said, "Chora Nova is a lively addition to the East Bay's classical music scene, and is comprised of a dynamic community of auditioned singers dedicated to sharing the joy of vocal music."

Frank La Rocca, Music Department chair, added, "From its earliest days, the CSUEB Music Department has encouraged and promoted the music of its female composition students, and I am very pleased to see three more of these gifted composers represented on this year's programs. Irene Gregorio has done an outstanding job directing this series and this year promises to be another great festival."
