February 27, 2008 > Local grants given Local grants given Submitted By Ivy Wu On Friday, Feb. 15, the Wal-Mart store on Osgood Road in Fremont gave out several grants. Grace Kato, the store manager quoted Sam Walton saying, "Serve globally and give locally," and that's why they gave six grants ranging from $500 - $3,500 to six local organizations: Fremont Education Foundation ($500), Irvington High School Grad Night ($500). Life Eldercare ($1,000), Classic Math ($2,500), East Bay Agency for Childcare ($500), and Friends of Children with Special Needs ($3,500). Wal-Mart has done more than given us generous grants, but also given wonderful job opportunities for our special needs adult children. We are truly thankful for all that Wal-Mart does for our community.
