Building a brighter future

The sixth annual parent workshop, titled Building a Brighter Future, will be presented by Fremont, New Haven and Newark Unified School District Special Education Departments on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the California School for the Blind in Fremont.
Guest speakers Carla Greenwald, parent of a special needs child, Kellie Greenwald, author and special needs student and Bob Phillips, Director of Cedars of Marin will be speaking during the workshop, held from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Some topics that will be covered in sessions include Transition to Adult Programs, Positive Behavior in the Home, Occupational Therapy Techniques, Social Stories in the Neighborhood, Understanding the IEP Process, Homework Hints, Using the Behavior Plan in the Home, CAC Parents to Parents, and Community Resources WalkAbout.
Entertainment will also be provided by the Jeena Jazz Band. The whole family is welcome, but an RSVP is required.
