James Logan Performing Arts Center

Submitted By Rick LaPlante

A virtual tour of the new Performing Arts Center at James Logan High School is available at the District website (www.nhusd.k12.ca.us).

Construction of the $25 million center is expected to begin this spring, and the 599-seat theater, with rehearsal space and teaching stations for the performing arts, is expected to open during the 2009-10 school year.

In conjunction with the project, the New Haven Schools Foundation is selling tiles for a "seat wall" to be built outside the Center. The wall will be made up of 1,000 tiles, engraved with names and messages.

Students, parents, community members and local businesses already have begun reserving their tiles. Cost is $120 for a two-line inscription and $150 for three lines, and the project is expected to sell out. To get an order form, call or e-mail Lori Valdes (510) 471-1100, ext. 2004, or email lvaldes@nhusd.k12.ca.us with your name, address and telephone number.
