BART offers New Year's Eve Special
Submitted By Luna Salaver
Instead of driving to your New Year's festivities, let BART be your designated driver. Once again, BART is offering a special "New Year's Eve Flash Pass." Those who purchase the $6 pass will get unlimited rides on BART from 6 p.m., Monday, Dec. 31, until BART service ends at 3 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008. BART service normally ends around midnight. BART will release more details about train service during the extended hours Christmas week.
"Celebrators won't have to worry about missing that last train at midnight," said BART Board President Lynette Sweet. "We hope that our New Year's Flash Pass and longer service hours encourage New Year's revelers to drive less and use BART instead."
Passengers with the passes only need to show them to the BART Station Agent and pass through the station swing gate. The special passes will not fit in the BART fare gates.
BART has 7,000 New Year's Flash Passes for sale. The flash passes will be available at Safeway stores in the greater Bay Area, the BART Customer Services Center at the Lake Merritt BART Station, or at the MyTransitPlus Stores in the Embarcadero, Civic Center, Montgomery, Powell Street, Coliseum and Bay Fair stations. Visit www.BART.gov for a complete listing of sales locations. |
