San Francisco Bay Area Curling Club (SFBACC) will be hosting an "Open House" on Saturday, Dec. 22, at Sharks Ice (formerly Logitech Ice) in San Jose. The event will start at 8 p.m. and run until 10:30 p.m. Sharks Ice in San Jose is located at1500 South 10th St., San Jose. For more information, call them at (408) 279-6000. It is next to San Jose Municipal Baseball Stadium and across the street from San Jose State Spartan Football Stadium.
SFBACC also uses Sharks Ice in Fremont for curling events. It is located at 44388 Old Warm Springs Rd., Fremont. For more information about this location, call (510) 623-7200. Different nights and rinks are used for separate leagues and curling activities.
If you have not curled before, remember to wear a pair of stretchy pants (jeans are not recommended) and a pair of tennis or running shoes. A warm jacket is recommended, and you may wish to wear a hat and/or gloves.
Stanley's Bar & Grill, located upstairs at Sharks Ice, will be open before and after the event for refreshments, so bring your friends and family.
SFBACC will be demonstrating and practicing standard curling techniques and deliveries, as well as "stick" curling and "wheelchair" curling upon request. Please feel free to ask any SFBACC member about curling lessons, leagues or private events.
Good curling and keep your brooms on the ice.
