December 12, 2007 > Veterans in parade of lights Veterans in parade of lights Submitted By Mary Tovar American Legion Veterans participated in the Niles Parade of Lights Friday night. WWII D-Day Veteran Herb Tovar, Art Hansen, and Wayne Springstein, rode in a WWII Jeep, rebuilt by driver Dennis Burns of the USS Hornet. Not shown, but leading the group was Dick Wenzel, Vietnam Veteran and Commander of the local American Legion Post 837 in Niles. John Hageman and Ian Lanouette carried rifles as they walked along the jeep, while Jim Hallabaugh and Les Memsinger carried American Flags.
