The Gold Rush, a Division 4, Under-10 girl's soccer team, ended their season by taking second place in the Sunset Tournament held in San Ramon on Dec. 1 - 2. Having also earned a second place finish in the FC Fremont Director's Cup Nov. 3 - 4 guaranteed the girls a place in the District 3 tournament.

Under the guidance of Michelle Alexander and Pat Mapelli, this group of girls truly had a remarkable season. For nearly half of the team, this was their first year playing organized soccer. Their success was a reflection of the girls working together and a desire to learn. Drawing on each other's strengths and abilities, each girl was able to develop her own skills while learning how to work as a team member on the field. Although wins and losses are not kept at this age level, the Gold Rush dominated many opponents with its strong defense (Alyx, Jessica, Danielle, Madison, Rachel, Gianna, and Jasmine) and determined offense (Neha, Brooke, Chelsea, Jamie, Caitie, and Kassandra).

Although some of the girls will be moving to a different age-level next year, this will be a season no one will soon forget. Congratulations Gold Rush on your amazing season.
