The Newark Earthquakes completed a special season by going undefeated (10-0) in the Al Caffodio, Under-11 Boys League in District III of the California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA). The Earthquakes traveled to Pleasanton, Danville and Union City while also battling teams from San Ramon, Dublin, and Livermore, as well as from Newark. While their average victory was 3-1, there were five games that were tightly contested one-goal wins, including the last three, to finish out the season.
In addition to their seasonal success, the Earthquakes earned third place in the Alameda Fright Fest U-12 Tournament by scoring a 5-1 victory in the consolation match. In several games, they faced older players with more experience but were still able to battle their way to the consolation prize.
Additionally, after going undefeated in the regular season, the U-11 Newark Earthquakes won the District III Cup, Bronze Division Tournament in Livermore, on December 1-2. The team combined to score 21 goals in the four games while giving up just one in the final minutes of the final game.
Next up for the Earthquakes is the Newark Winterfest Tournament, Dec. 8 - 9, followed by preparation for CYSA U-11 Association Cup that begins the first week of January 2008.
Congratulations to all players, coaches (Ann Lombana, Andy Stewart and Rossi Bradford) and families for a great fall season.
